December 4th Christmas Shopping In Toronto

Come see me even just to say 'Hi' at the upcoming Holiday Edition Parkdale Bazaar. There will be Cheesy Family Portraits, vintage and handmade crafts—so just plain fun and a great place to go christmas shopping.

Read below for full event details.

PLEDC presents the vintage and handmade market series.

The Parkdale Bazaar provides locals with an outlet for showcase and sales to promote craft, recycled and homegrown merchandise. As a response to the neighborhood's thriving vintage and craft communities the event will take place 5 times throughout the year and include over 60 vendors.

The Parkdale Bazaar Holiday Edition is our biggest and best market of the year. The event will take place in the Masaryk-Cowan Community Center (220 Cowan Ave.) from 11AM – 5PM on December 4th, 2010 and will feature a hot chocolate station, Christmas card portrait studio and vintage Christmas special marathon.

Holiday portraits can be a little cheesy, especially with a 90’s Christmas Eve backdrop and Rudolf sweater. Why fight it? Come have your corny portrait taken by guest photographer Jillian Botting. It’s free! And we’ll provide everything from the antlers to Christmas sweaters, so come with friends and get silly.

Star Wars Brought To Life Through Paper!

I have always been a fan of the classic Star War movies with princess Leia, not to mention the dashing young Harrison Ford. So here is a beautiful rendition by Eric Power of the Star Wars Trilogy made entirely out of paper.

This piece is paired perfectly with the sinful lovely music by Jeremy Messersmith titled Tatooine.

Flexible Leaf Dishes

I simply had to post about these technologically advanced leaf dishes by Nao Tamura . Fun, flexible, stackable, rollable, and microwave/oven safe, what more do you want?

My only question about this product is whether it is sustainable and eco-friendly? Other than that I love how the design takes nature as its inspiration—Biomimicry, and how it continues the age-old tradition of wrapping food in leaves (grape and banana leaves)

Made out of silica sand, each dish looks and replicate the appearance of a large leaf.

Redefining A New Way To Part The Sea

Yasuhiro Suzuki's dream became a reality when his 2004 scale model of a zipper boat was shown at the Setouchi International Art Festival in Japan.

Suzuki has redefined a new way to part the sea, leaving in its wake water that is meant to represent teeth of a modern day clothing zipper.

Talk about being zipped away for the holidays!

Panty By Post

I am a huge fan of beautiful pretty things, in particular cute underwear. So every time I come across this site I just want to sign up for it and see what will be delivered to my door.

'Panty By Post' is such a fun idea, they send pretty French underwear in the mail monthly and you never know what you are going to get. It is always a new surprise and a special treat to you.

The only reason I haven’t signed up for it yet is the fact that I have too many cute pieces as it is.

Blogging will be slightly scattered

As you all have probably noticed my blogging has been slightly scattered. This is due to the fact I am getting ready for my first bizarre which is on the 9th October. I am busy making and creating enough designs and pieces.

If any of you are in Toronto and are interested in visiting please check out this link for the event.

I promise that once I have the free time I will continue to blog.

Cheers to all

Great Additions To A Costume

Halloween is so close by, and as each day passes I keep trying to think of what I want to be this year. For some reason I am having an incredibly tough time making my decision.

I even thought of using the concept in the movie ‘Coraline’—the door to another world for a costume. However I have the funny suspicion that no one would get it.

So as I procrastinate further about what I want to be, I have decided to post a few items I found on Etsy that I thought would make great additions to a costume.

Is It An Area Rug?—Art by Heike Weber

Here is a delicate flora and fauna area rug, Is it perfect for your house?

Well only if you don’t mind having a rug made out of hand squeezed silicone goo by Heike Weber.

She uses strategically flung out lines and hand-rendered plans to make her vision come to life, which enables each piece to invade the vast space and create this unimaginable force.

Bonsai Trees, A Living Art Kit

Green plants and flowers are a great way to decorate your office or home. Here is an elegantly understated bonsai tree kit that has clean lines and an industrial recycled steel material packaging, perfect for any modern day interior.

I personally do not have the green thumb, but this would make a great addition to the collection to those that do. The kit includes everything you need to know to grow and sculpt the tree to create a living work of art.

Sept 15th, 5 Great Treasuries

For this weeks 5 chosen treasury lists I decided to go with a theme. I picked the 5 treasuries that I felt had great color co-ordination. Each treasury featured, have really well chosen items and I highly recommend browsing through the independent artists products. You might just find a perfect little gift for a loved one.

6 Must See Designs By Klaus Burgel

My jaw simply dropped when I came across these designs by Klaus Burgel. If only I could buy each and everyone of his pieces.

Burgel, is inspired by nature and the sensual properties of the artist’s materials, which can be blatantly seen in the way he present his pieces. They are either presented in an unpolished state to show the impoverished appearance of the material, or in it’s utterly brilliant state.

I just love his amazing weighted pendants made out of semi-precious stones and gold.

Bike Culture And A Great Storage Solution

Bike culture is a huge thing in Toronto, particularly in the past few years. This is probably due to the current green revolution and trend. So for all those bike lovers out there and other considering about joining in on this bike culture, here is a little nifty gadget for storing your bike in your home or office space.

Cycloc is a stylish and practical wall mount, to hang your bike out of the way. It has a unique shape, which when combined with the weight of the bike helps to lock it instantly in place.
